PHS Jazz Festival - Sign Up Now to Help!
The Poway High School Jazz Festival, now in its fifth year, will be held on Wednesday, April 29, from noon to 9 PM, at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. Senior Josh Alkire is heading up this year's Festival as his Senior Project. Josh has the following message for parents and students:
Here are the ways you can help:
This year's festival will feature over 10 jazz bands from around San Diego County, host 3 judges, hundreds of attending students, families, and community members and will feature an exciting and upcoming professional performing group led by John Reynolds DMA, the Gaslamp Quarter Jazz Orchestra.
However, this festival needs more than ticket sales to be a profitable, sustainable event that contributes positively to Poway's music program.
For this reason, we are inviting all parents and students to volunteer for the event.
The festival takes place from around noon to 9pm on Wednesday, April 29th. This means students will be roaming around the PAC for hours with a great need for nutritional foodstuff. There will likely be outside vendors catering most of the Festival's main food items, but we need financial support to host the Hospitality Suite for our visiting Music Directors and guest Judges.
We will also need volunteers for stage crews, judges aides and set-up/break-down.

We Need Your Old Marching Shoes
Marching band season is over, but we are still working behind the scenes for next year...if you have any old marching band shoes that no longer fit, please consider donating them to the uniform trailer instead of a charity. We often allow students to borrow these used shoes when they forget theirs at a tournament.
Please contact Mary Ellen Dufva at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
