    "Welcome Back" - Band & Color Guard Picnic

    It's that time of year again! Excitement fills the air with the "Cadence of the Drum Line", the Colors of the Tall Flags, and of course our "Emerald Brigade" Marching Band!

    The PHS Music Boosters along with your 2015 Band Leadership will host the 3rd Annual "Welcome Back" Band Picnic on Saturday, August 8 at Lake Poway. All Band & Color Guard members AND their families are invited to this celebration of the end of summer. Section Leaders will be contacting their groups with all the details!

    • Burgers, hot dogs, condiments, and paper goods will be provided by the Boosters
    • All other picnic items will be "potluck":
      • Desserts: Percussion/Color Guard
      • Side Dishes: Woodwinds
      • Drinks & Ice/Coolers: Brass

    Attendance at the Emerald Brigade Band Camp is required for all marching band students. During this week, students are introduced to the field show that will be featured at halftime during home football games and performed at tournament competitions.

    What should you bring to Band Camp? Here's some recommendations, but be sure to check with your Section Leader:

    • Sun block - bring plenty and plan to re-apply often during the day
    • Sun hat with good coverage (see the expert campers below)
    • Sneakers (NO sandals or flip-flops)
    • Lots of water - one gallon in an insulated drink container isn't too much!
    • NO soda, but Gatorade is great
    • Lunch and nutritious snacks
    • 3-ring binder for music and a pencil
    • Dot book (ask your Section Leader where to get one)
    • Your instrument!

    Rita's Scoop Night Fundraiser

    Band Together for Ice-Custard Happiness at Rita's of Poway, a refreshment destination after Band Camp on Monday, August 10 from 4 to 9 PM. Prepare to layer it, blend it and drink it! Rita's Italian Ice is made fresh daily with real fruit. Get your favorite Italian or Cream Ice and Custard too! Rita's will donate 20% of sales to PHSMB with your paper or digital flyer! You just might see a Celebrity Scooper behind the counter! Check back soon for the official flyer.

    Band Camp Family & Friends Concert

    The traditional Family & Friends Concert will be held on the evening of Friday, August 14 in the N-Quad to close out Band Camp week. The exact time of the concert will be announced later (probably 6:00 or 6:30 PM). Everyone is invited.

    The Emerald Brigade will perform part of their field show music, and fire up the crowd with the PHS Fight Song. See how far they have come after one week of hard work! Be sure to bring your camp or beach chair.

    Marching Band Registration & Uniform Fittings

    Welcome, new and returning Marching Band students! WE HAVE BRAND NEW UNIFORMS!!

    Registration and Uniform Fittings for new students, as well as, returning Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will be held on on Saturday, August 15, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Sunday, August 16, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Band Room (N-1).

    All students MUST be accompanied with at least one parent.

    All Marching Band Students - Sign Up for a Fitting Appointment
    All students should sign up for a 20-minute time slot on either Saturday or Sunday. Be sure to arrive to your appointment wearing the correct apparel for your fitting and bringing everything you need for registration. Remember, you MUST be accompanied with at least one parent.

Be advised, the official band photo day will take place the morning of Saturday, August 22. It is critical that each and every student be fitted and all pertinent forms are collected by the end of Registration.

    All Parents - Sign Up to Help
    We need your help with the upcoming Registration & Uniform Fitting. Volunteers will help set up uniform stations on Friday, August 14 after the Band Camp Concert, and fit students with their brand new unforms on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16. You can sign up for shifts before, after, or during your own student'a appointment. The experts on our Uniform Team will train you and answer any questions.

    2015-2016 Emerald Brigade pictures will be taken in full uniform on Saturday, August 22. Call time and schedule for Band and Color Guard members will be announced soon.

    Remember to bring your black marching shoes and to wear a black T-shirt, black shorts, and black socks. Please, NO MAKEUP - foundation, powder, and blush will stain the uniforms. Hair may be styled. You will not have to wear a shako.
