Ask the Poway School Board to Support Arts Education
At the most recent Poway School Board meeting, Marc Davis, parent, longtime teacher, and Band and Orchestra Conductor at Poway High School, made the case for the district to invest in arts education with funding provided by the new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). You can make a difference in this conversation by sending your own letter to members of the PUSD School Board, letting them know that you support arts education.
After years of budget cuts and a single-minded focus on standardized tests, LCFF is shifting that focus with priorities that include a broad course of study, positive school climate, student and parent engagement – all areas where student access to arts education can make a difference. Arts education aligns with LCFF goals and contributes to a set of unique skills and outcomes that are shown to help students succeed in school and in life.
On February 3rd, the PUSD School Board will meet to make budget decisions with implications for the next three years.
Send a letter to let them know that you support funding for arts education. The easiest way to send your message is through the Action Alert that has been set up at the Action Center on the California Alliance for Arts Education website.
