Directions & Guest Parking
For directions to the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, see the PHS/PCPA Map & Directions document.
Guests are encouraged to attend the Festival, but unfortunately visitor parking on the Poway High School (PHS) campus is not permitted before 2:30 p.m. There may be limited on-street parking in the neighborhoods surrounding PHS, including southbound Espola Rd between Titan Way and Summer Sage Rd, and on northbound Riparian Road between Titan Way and Oakstand Road. After 2:30 p.m., guests may park in the PHS parking lots on Titan Way and Espola Road, but not in the reserved lot immediately behind the PCPA (see the PHS Campus Map).
Members of the audience should turn off their cell phones and other electronic devices during performances. Flash photography is prohibited in the PCPA.
Performances are evaluated by a panel of music educators from the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA). The adjudicators will be located in the mezzanine (balcony) of the auditorium. They will be recording their comments throughout the performance and may be heard quietly talking. These comments and evaluations are a part of the festival procedure and are intended to reinforce the learning process.
The Poway Festival organizers will not be posting a public rating results board. Students and parents should speak to their music director for the rating results for their ensemble.
Ensembles performing on Tuesday and before the dinner break on Wednesday and Thursday will be attending a sight-reading session conducted by Mr. Karl Fitch in PHS Room N-2 (see the Festival Venue Map). Spectators are welcome to view the sight-reading session. After their performance, students will immediately proceed from the PCPA stage as a group via the rear exit of the PCPA to the Sight-Reading Room N-2. Parents should meet their musicians at Room N-2 and not in the PCPA after their performance.
