Adult Volunteer Sign-up
The annual Poway Band and Orchestra Festival will be held on April 7 through 9. This is our most important spring event and the biggest band and orchestra festival in our district. We will be hosting 45 bands and orchestras from PUSD and other Southern California communities.
To give our visitors an excellent experience and present a professional, memorable event, we need ALL parents of our Orchestra, Color Guard, and Band students to help when they are able. The Festival is both a fundraiser for the entire music program AND a spotlight event for our students, directors, and school.
Parents, alumni, relatives, and friends can sign up to work multiple shifts on the B & O Festival Adult Volunteer Sign-Up Page. Performance times for our PHS ensembles are listed at the top of this page, so feel free to sign up for slots before and/or after your student's performance.
If you have any questions, please contact Paula Pullenza at email@example.com.
Hospitality Room Donations
The Festival Hospitality Room is a warm, welcoming haven for the visiting judges, band directors, and their music staff.
We need grocery gift cards (Costco, Albertsons, Vons, Stater Brothers, or Sprouts) and monetary donations for Hospitality. Gift cards and monetary donations (cash or checks made out check to "PHSMB") will be used to purchase food and drinks. Please drop off you donation in the Green Basket in the directors' office.
We are also asking for families to donate cookies, brownies, and homemade desserts for the Hospitality Room. You can sign up to donate on the B & O Festival Hospitality Donation Sign-Up Page.
Items should be dropped off at the PCPA Green Room on the date & time indicated in the item description. To find the Green Room, look for the "DIRECTOR CHECK-IN" signs outside the PCPA off Titan Way. Please contact Paula at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions.
Student Volunteer Sign-up
The student volunteer sign-up board will be posted in N-1 in late March. There are opportunities in the following areas: Concessions, Judges Aides, Sight-Reading Aides, Stage Crew, and Announcers. See the sign-up board for descriptions.
IMPORTANT NOTE 1: When signing up for a shift make sure that you will not miss your call time. Warm-up, performance, sight-reading times for all PHS groups are listed on the sign-up board.
IMPORTANT NOTE 2: If you will be missing a class, check with your teacher and make sure it is OK to miss class BEFORE signing up.
IMPORTANT NOTE 3: When it is time for your shift, check in with the Student Volunteer Manager in the PCPA backstage hall. The Manager will explain your assignment. Do not enter the Green Room unless you are delivering something as part of your assignment!
IMPORTANT NOTE 4: If your shift is during school time, you must check-in with the Student Volunteer Manager or you will not be cleared with the Attendance Office.
If you have questions or comments about the Poway Band & Orchestra Festival, please contact the Festival co-chairs, Paula Pullenza and Melissa Martinez, at email@example.com.
