2010 Poway Invitational Field Tournament (PIFT) 
The Poway Invitational Field Tournament, formerly known as the Poway Preview of Champions,
welcomes bands from all over Southern California to perform at Poway High School in Poway,
California. The Poway Invitational Field Tournament is designed to be a learning experience
for both students and directors.
Each band performs their field show for a panel of Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) judges and receives a ranking or placement. This is the one of the first public performances of the marching band season for most of the participating bands and attached units. It provides each group an opportunity to perform their competitive field show for a supportive tournament audience. The competition highlights music, student teamwork, and an intricate display of team cooperation and discipline. Information for Band Directors The Poway Invitational Field Tournament is an outstanding SCSBOA tournament on a modern artificial marching field (football field). We welcome competing bands of all sizes and offer a welcoming director's hospitality room with delicious food. This year we will have a special performance by San Diego State University's Marching Aztecs. Click here for details and registration information. Judging Criteria is as follows:
Bands from size 1A-6A will compete in their own class for trophies in Band, Auxiliary and Percussion. Sweepstakes trophies will be awarded for top Music, General Effect, Visual Effect, Auxiliary, & Percussion. The top overall unit will receive the Tournament Sweepstakes Trophy. Volunteers Needed Parents, families, and students are all welcome to work in support of the tournament and supporting the students. Your assistance will help defray increasing costs incurred to support PIFT. Please also invite your extended family to enjoy this major band competition tournament.
