PIFT 2011 Adult Volunteer Sign-up
Click here to sign-up for a shift.
Please note: Student volunteers sign-up in the band room. The Poway Invitational Field Tournament (PIFT) is our largest fundraiser of the year. This year PIFT will host 26 bands from all over San Diego and Orange County and will include more than 2500 performers. We expect more than 2000 spectators to come to enjoy the performances. How To Volunteer Check out the volunteer job descriptions below and then click here to sign-up for a shift. Click the sign-up button for the job and time you'd like to volunteer. Note that all shifts are on tournament day, October 22, 2011. It's easy to do and you can make changes to your volunteer time if needed. We have 237 shifts that must be filled so please consider volunteering for more than one shift at one or multiple jobs. Your help is especially needed during the evening hours when we have the most visitors. If you have any questions or difficulties with the volunteer sign-up process, please contact our PIFT Adult Volunteer Coordinator Jeannie Johnson Thank you for helping with the tournament! It cannot happen without the support of volunteers like you. Volunteer Job Descriptions Admissions Admissions will sell tickets at the North and South gates of the stadium. Band Check-In Greets the band directors and gives them their information packets and escorts bands to practice areas, if needed. Band Seating Seats bands in the visitor side stands after their performances. Band Staging Responsible for directing buses and equipment trucks into the PHS band south parking lot. Concessions Concessions will operate the food booths on the Home and Visitor's side of the stadium. Jobs include taking orders, making change, and serving food. The first shift of the day will help set up and the last shift of the day will help clean up. Equipment Crew Chair Setup crews will be setting up chairs, lights and other equipment for the tournament. They also clean and set up the sitting arrangement on the visitor bleachers for the attending schools. Emerald Brigade volunteers will move instruments and props for the Emerald Brigade's performance. Gate Control Responsible for informing bands and front ensemble equipment crews where to stage and when to move in preparation for performances. Hospitality A hospitality suite for band directors and their staff is available throughout the day. Volunteers in this area keep the refreshments stocked and the area cleaned up. Medical Assist with the medical station. You do not necessarily need to be a nurse or doctor. Merchandise Merchandise volunteers will be selling all types of merchandise throughout the day. Parking: PHS Front Lot Directs student dropoff vehicles in the front of the school, controls access to reserved parking for PIFT judges, VIP, and special guests. Parking: PHS North Lot Assists with parking in the PHS North lot. Raffles Raffle volunteers will sell raffles throughout the day. Security Security volunteers direct spectators inside the stadium, check spectator's tickets or badges and man strategic gates into the stadium. Note that this job allows you to watch all the field shows from a field level view. Signage Assist with putting out signs throughout campus in the am and removing the signs in the pm. Sunday Cleanup Sunday clean-up crew will complete the cleaning up of the field and bleachers, along with the south and north parking lots, around the school and PAC. Ushers The ushers control access in and out of the home side stadium while bands are performing. Volunteer Room The Volunteer Check-In room is the home base for volunteers throughout the day. Volunteers are checked-in and directed to where they will be working. Student volunteer community service hours are documented. Radios are handed out and tracked. On Tournament Day Volunteer Parking Please identify yourself as a volunteer to the traffic and parking crew. Volunteers may park in the back staff lot near the wrestling building. Enter from the front driveway entrance to the campus from Espola Rd. This lot is expected to fill up by late morning and will be closed to entering traffic once the performing bands begin to arrive. Entry to the Tournament Your volunteer badge will get you into the tournament for free. Thank you! Attire Special attire is not required, but if you have a tournament t-shirt, Band Polo shirt, a Poway High School shirt or even a green shirt, wearing it helps identify you as a member of the staff. Check-In Upon arrival, please come to room K-12, the Volunteer Check-In room. K-12 is located behind the administration building. Please allow extra time to park, walk across campus, check in and walk to your post (at least 30 minutes). Adult volunteers and student volunteers have separate check-in lines. You will be given a badge to wear. Student Community Service All student volunteers who wish to receive community service credit must complete a community service form and have your photo taken. Report to Post After you check-in, report to your post. If possible, find the person you are replacing and let them know you are there. Please stay at your post the entire time for which you signed up. Hospitality Refreshments are available for our morning volunteers outside the volunteer check-in room or at the band check-in table outside of the band room. Water is available all day long at those two locations. Questions For PIFT tournament questions, please contact co-chairs: For questions about your job, please contact the committee chairperson.
