Recycling Fundraising Program

May Recycle Drive
Bring recyclable items and a coupon from the Chieftain (for a better aluminum can redemption rate). The coupon will show you what they will recycle also.

Please be sure to tell the center that YOU ARE FUNDRAISING FOR PHSMB and receive a receipt (NOT CASH) when you go recycling. All receipts issued between May 2, 2011 and May 31, 2011 should be dropped in the Green Basket with the student's name and the class period by Wednesday, June 1, 2011.

All music and Winter Guard students are encouraged to participate in this fundraiser as we are going to run a class competition based on the participation and dollar raised. 50% of what you raise will benefit the Boosters and 50% will credit your student account. The most participated class will receive a build-your-own ice-cream-sundae party!

Did you know that ...
  • A used aluminum can is recycled and back on the grocery shelf as a new can, in as little as 60 days.

  • If all our newspaper was recycled, we could save about 250,000,000 trees each year!

  • Americans use 2,500,000 plastic bottles every hour! Most of them are thrown away!

  • Every month, we throw out enough glass bottles and jars to fill up a giant skyscraper. All of these jars are recyclable!

  • About one-third of an average dump is made up of packaging material!

  • An estimated 80,000,000 Hershey's Kisses are wrapped each day, using enough aluminum foil to cover over 50 acres of space -- that's almost 40 football fields. All that foil is recyclable, but not many people realize it.
Well, the PHS Music Program is going green!!! The Marching Band, Color Guard, Orchestra and Band are joining together in a recycling fundraising program that will help out the environment, help preserve natural resources from being depleted and raise much needed funds for the PHS Music Program as well as your Student Accounts.

We have partnered with Quality Recycling, 13863 Poway Road, to redeem aluminum cans, plastic bottles, newspapers, cardboard, glass, copper, brass, scrap aluminum, stainless steel and more. When you take material to Quality Recycling, just tell the person at the pay window that you want the recycling proceeds to go to the Poway High School Music Program. You will not receive cash but will receive a receipt for the material that you have dropped off. 50% of the funds will go towards the PHS Music Program and 50% of the funds will go to your Student Account. Simply turn in your recycling receipt to ensure credit to your Student Account.

The hours of the recycling center are 8 am to 5 pm Mon - Fri, and 8 am to 3 pm Sat. The center is closed on Sunday. Click here for a map.
